Version history
ZKey, version by version
Newest first. Upgrade by installing the new installer over the old one — your settings and custom words are kept.
1.0
build 1ReleaseLatestFirst release
- Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple — macOS opens the installer normally, no need to turn off Gatekeeper.
- One universal installer for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
- Checks for a new version once a day; when there is one, the input menu and ZKey Settings → Cập nhật show a download button. Can be turned off in Settings.
- The installer now walks you through adding the keyboard, with screenshots.
- Requires macOS 13 Ventura or later.
0.2.19
build 23FixesA tidier VI icon
- The “VI” menu-bar icon uses a 22×16 frame like the U.S. keyboard badge.
- 8.5 pt lettering, no longer larger than the system icons.
0.2.18
build 22FixesSteady typing in Chrome, VS Code and Slack
- Fixed lost letters and a cursor that seemed stuck at the start of the word in Chrome, Electron (VS Code, Slack) and WebKit.
- A mouse click (left, right or middle) commits the word being typed.
- When an app cancels the input range, ZKey drops that word's buffer.
0.2.13 – 0.2.17
FixesInput range and cursor
- A lone marked vowel is kept on commit: uwx → ữ.
- Several cursor-position fixes, including after emoji.
- Diagnostic logging (only with ZKEY_TRACE_COMPOSITION=1) records key counts, never the text.
0.2.9
build 12ChangeThe input method ships on its own
- The input method lives at /Library/Input Methods/ZKeyInputMethod.app, so macOS registers it reliably.
- Existing preferences are carried over automatically.
0.2.5
NewTelex habits, understood
- Shorthand: giw → giư, giwx → giữ.
- An e after the final consonant: chuyene → chuyên, chuyener → chuyển.
- A circumflex after a vowel cluster: nhieue → nhiêu.
- An a after ua: luanaj → luận.
0.2.2
FixesEnglish stays English
- database no longer becomes “dât”.
- Strings that are not valid syllables go back to their keys while you type, without waiting for Space.
0.2.1
FixesZKey shows up in Keyboard settings
- Fixed the input method's identifier so macOS lists ZKey under Vietnamese input sources.
- The installer reports clearly if registering the input source fails.
